Demand to Include Sambalpuri-Kosali Language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution
Bargarh. Bargarh MP Pradip Purohit raised the demand to include the Sambalpuri-Kosali language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution and to recognize it as one of the official languages of the Odisha government. He presented this matter under Rule 377 during the Winter Session of Parliament.
Addressing the House, MP Purohit highlighted that the Sambalpuri-Kosali language is spoken in 11 out of Odisha’s 30 districts. He emphasized that this ancient language is an integral part of the cultural and social identity of Western Odisha.
