Health Advisory Issued as Increase in Cases of Dengue Fever is Witnessed in India This Year

India– Considering the increase in the cases of dengue fever in a number of states across the country, the Ministry of Health has put forth an advisory and called for measures including early detection to control this mosquito-borne disease.
Current Situation
The total number of cases of dengue fever, which is transmitted via the Aedes aegypti mosquito, has increased significantly this year. The worst affected have been the states of Odisha, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. According to National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control, NCVBDC, dengue fever cases have certainly shown an upward trend with more than 320, 000 infected and 485 deaths reported in 20241.
Health Advisory
The health organisation of the Ministry of Health has stressed for carrying out the following activities in respect of prevention and control of Dengue fever-
Take Care of the Foci of Mosquito Breeding: Standing water in any container, flower pots and any other place at your house should be removed.
Encourage the Application of Potent Mosquito Repellants: One must use the mosquito repellants and mosquito nets to make sure that mosquitoes don't ever come near you.
Protect yourself with combat clothing: Long sleeved shirts and pant should be worn to avoid the chances of getting bitten by mosquitoes.
Early Medical Attention: All those patients who have a high fever, severe headache with pain behind the eyes, pain in their joints and muscles, rashes and minor bleeding should go to the hospital as soon as possible.
