Bargarh: National Highway Blocked by Donguri Limestone Mine Contract Workers Over Pending Demands
Contract workers of the Donguri limestone mine blocked the National Highway at Haladipali Square in Bargarh to press their demands. The protest saw the presence of police, Bargarh Sub-Collector Prasanna Kumar Pande, and company officials at the site.
The workers demanded that the mine be made operational for the remaining lease period. If operations cannot resume, they insisted that all workers should be paid their wages for the lease duration, including pending wages from October 2023 to the present.
During the demonstration, protesters raised slogans against Adani Group, warning that they would intensify their agitation if the demands were not met.
After assurances from the administration that a resolution would be reached within three months, the blockade was lifted. The protesters, however, cautioned that they would resume protests on a larger scale if their issues were not resolved within the promised timeframe.
