ICAI Announces Major Reform: CA Final Exams to be Held Thrice a Year Starting 2025

In a groundbreaking decision, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced that the CA Final examinations will now be conducted three times a year, effective from 2025. This historic move aligns the CA Final exam schedule with the Intermediate and Foundation levels, which already follow a thrice-a-year format.
The exams will now be held in January, May, and September, providing students with increased flexibility and more opportunities to appear for the exams. The decision was made during the 441st Council Meeting held on March 27, 2025, in New Delhi. ICAI emphasized that this change is part of its broader strategy to modernize the examination process and align with global best practices.
ICAI President CA Charanjot Singh Nanda stated, "This reform is aimed at reducing the stress on students and offering them more chances to clear their exams within a shorter time frame. It reflects our commitment to enhancing accessibility and convenience for aspiring Chartered Accountants."
Additionally, ICAI has announced modifications to its Post Qualification Course in Information Systems Audit (ISA). The Assessment Test for this course will also be conducted thrice a year, starting in 2025.
This decision is expected to benefit thousands of CA aspirants, making the qualification journey smoother while maintaining the rigor and credibility of the Chartered Accountancy profession.
